Feed the Future

Motherhood in Kenya is a challenging task, where the infant mortality rate is 30 deaths per 1000 individuals (2018). While Kenya’s birth rate is at par with most other developing nations, there is a dearth of knowledge regarding best practices of childcare. Consequently, UMN visited with a dozen mothers and their children at the Children’s Home at Miritini in Mombasa County to offer Health Advocacy services. We taught the group on good nutritional practices that ensure robust growth for their children. Moreover, we donated bedding and kitchen supplies.
